This is a bit over dramatic; I’m not going to lie. It’s more a reflection of the number of times that I’ve woken up to apply for jobs and found that there are no jobs that require my skill or talent that day. Utilizing my work day effectively it is important to find other career related activities to do on days when there are no jobs I’m applying for. Lucky for me I have my handy list of goals that I’ve shared. In hindsight I should have been more strategic with my display of them. That way when I am not as accomplished as I’d like to be with my French, or PHP, I wouldn’t feel guilty when people ask me how it’s going in French and I say, “Oh la la. Je mange trop.”
Mistaken or not for my possible overshare, these are the days I secretly like the best. I get to read up on the news I’ve missed, pratice my French and dream up the Web site I’ll get to build with the my soon-to-be awesome typography.
There are jobs out there. I know. I see them. I get emails and calls for some I’ve applied for, and others applications just seem to click ignore. It’s okay. It’s all part of the game. That’s what days like today are for. Being able to express my interest in my field through creative and career-building outlets, and taking a breather from the pressure of applying for jobs. And if all else fails I’ll sell all of my personal belongings and move to Alaksa to be one with nature.
