Unemployment doesn’t mean sick days

I haven’t needed to take my DayQuil today. Three cheers for that! However I do want to crawl in bed and sleep for the next fifteen hours but I have work to do so I can’t.  So much for sicks day when you’re unemployed.

I used to go to work sick. Not because I am mean and sadistic — you can stop laughing now — but because I didn’t see the point of sitting at home when I could still function. I learned the hard way the importance of my ability to function versus getting everyone in the office sick. Let’s just say after being sent home from my office at my past job that from now on I’ll be taking sick days. Of course I’ll need a office to be sent home from, but you get the picture.

So waking up the other day ill, I had no where to call in and take the day off from. Unlike working in an office, I won’t be infect anyone else with my plague. I supposed I could crawl back into bed and sleep for the next fifteen hours, but considering I actually have some work that I’m being paid for — I’ll soldier on. I’m still functioning and I’ve already heated up some orange juice and add some cinnamon and enjoyed the warmth it offered me.  Sleep can come later on, like 7.
