After another weekend full of jobless talk and fiscal responsibility realizations, I woke up this morning refreshed. It probably has more to do with my new morning routine of tea, having deemed my sugar-free energy drinks a luxury, than any wisdom I pulled from talking about the current economic state of me and the rest of the country.
None the less, feeling refreshed I like to start my day out by reading the news and catching up on the latest unemployment trends– especially in my home state of California.
I should preface by saying that I finally submitted my California unemployment benefits application last week and now I’m waiting to see how much I got approved for. A happy good morning to you Rach, remember although you are a number you do have something on your side.
Applicants for unemployment assistance are turned down by EDD for many reasons. In some cases, EDD caseworkers determined that they voluntarily quit their jobs or were fired for alleged misconduct such as absenteeism or drinking on the job. The Los Angeles Times
I guess everything has a silver lining considering that I wasn’t laid off for misconduct, absenteeism or drinking on the job. Recession has a nice ring to it after all. I wonder if I can get that engraved in a Tiffany’s necklace? Nothing says I’m Ma Joad like a silver shaped peach pendant.
