Fashion 2009: the unemployment tote

Where is Time magazine’s mirrored cover when you need it?  The person of the year is the face of unemployment — us!

In the last month it seems that unemployment is the new fashion accessory. Cool, hip, fashionably indoors and looking for love,  unemployment is the tote you can’t seem to be without this year. It comes in all shapes, sizes and colors, and there is no economic standard. What’s so nice about the unemployment accessory is that you don’t even have to be one yourself; just pick one up in the unemployment line and look for your stills on the pages of Vogue and 7X7 magazine. When we get old or talk to much about being unemployed throw us away. It’s okay. There will be another wave of new unemployed totes faster than it takes to load a Web page.

Everyone is talking about unemployment from the unemployed, the employed, your mom — everyone. Everyone has their unique story that makes their unemployment different. It’s probably one of the biggest money makers this side of the recession. The me-centric unemployed could pull us out it if only we can could find a way to monetize beyond just advertising on our blogs. Until that time comes don’t be left out of a club without an unemployed person as your fashion tote. We score free food, drinks and make the cover of magazines — we’re so very.
