About Rachel Steinberg

RachelSteinberg_RecentlyLaidOffI was laid off, hired and laid off again, and now working a contract job all while living in one of the most expensive cities in the country. I still love you San Francisco.

My past work experience extends from working in non-profit admin and marketing to content provider on the Web. I’ve worked for Cumulus Media, PBS and AOL. In 2007, I received my master’s degree from American University in public communication. I can be reached via email at resteinberg at gmail dot com.

Find me across the interwebs at LinkedIn, Twitter and IMDB.

I’ve been lucky enough to be featured among the voices that are talking about unemployment:The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, KQED and American Public Media’s Marketplace.

About Tales From the Recently Laid Off
I was looking for an opportunity to continue writing and keep my sanity thus Tales From the Recently Laid Off was born. Not only is it a way for me to let go of my frustrations but I also get to write about my favorite childhood shows, music and share my recipes for cooking on extreme budgets. I try to keep my sense of humor because this is my life, and I am the one stuck in it. I thank Pandora, Slacker and Jango playlists for keeping me motivated with the best kind of music. I still can’t afford iTunes, sugar-free Red Bull or other luxuries I use to take for granted. I need to save my money and pay back my dues from unemployment. Welcome to my re-hirement.

I’ve expanded Tales From the Recently Laid Off to include my fellow under-employed friend, Scott Pierce. Please welcome him and be sure to save his place in line for EDD — we can all use all the help we can get.
